Responding To Overdoses Workshop

🏥The Importance of Responding To Opioid Overdoses🏥

Student members of the Junior Police Academy recently underwent training for responding to opioid overdoses. The session, sponsored by non-profit Partners in Prevention and the City of Union City and held at José Martí STEM Academy, focused on vaping, opioids and how they affect the body. It also focused on Naloxone, a treatment for opioid overdoses that reverses the overdose, restores breathing and works within minutes. The students were given kits containing Naloxone, test strips and other resources for responding to an opioid overdose. It was an insightful experience for everyone in attendance.
